Job Summary
The Territory Manager is responsible for revenue growth within an assigned geographic sales territory, acting as a direct interface to customers, channels, and the internal organization. Requires a strong technical understanding of bearings and mechanical power transmissions, communication skills, and knowledge of the territory’s key industrial sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Territory Management
- Represent Dodge products in the assigned territory in a manner consistent with the company’s values, goals, and strategic concepts.
- Collaborate with the Local Division Manager and other Territory Managers to engage in learning and support of territory management.
- Hunt for new leads and develop plans to pursue these opportunities.
- Engage in frequent face-to-face meetings with key accounts.
- Make joint visits with distributor partners to end users in key industries such as aggregates, cement, metal production, construction material production, food & beverage, recycling, wastewater, and logistics.
- Gain trusted advisor status from customers by demonstrating an expert knowledge of the products, applications, and industries.
- Learn and demonstrate a thorough understanding of the product line, including mechanical power transmission components such as gears, bearings, couplings, and drive systems.
- Comfortable with conducting technical product and application training.
Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and market trends using CRM software and other e-tools platforms.
- Timely reporting of sales and expenses. Utilization of Salesforce.com, Power BI, and other sales tools to maximize territory growth.
- Support the development and implementation of sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and expand market presence.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, marketing, and customer support, to offer comprehensive solutions to customer needs.
Required Qualifications
- 5-10 years of experience in the power transmission industry.
- Bilingual with the ability to communicate verbally and in writing in the local language and English.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Competent and professional usage of Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, ERP, and CRM systems.
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably technical in nature, or equivalent/relevant job experience.
Physical Requirements
- Walk distances within customer sites that may have adverse conditions such as high heat, humidity, dust, underground, or heights.
- Must be able to drive extended periods of time.
- Overnight travel as needed.
- Able to lift and pull up to 50 lbs.
- Able to reach, climb, crawl.
- Speak and present in person and virtually to individuals and small groups.
Essential Job Functions
- Grow the Dodge business by acting as a trusted advisor to increase volume and capture new business opportunities.
- Visit distributor branches and customer sites on a regular cadence.
- Develop relationships and network within distributor channels and at end user customer sites within a defined geography/territory.
- Collaborate, strategize, and formulate a yearly business plan with existing and new key customer contacts.
- Conduct plant surveys at customer facilities to determine current installed product and evaluate the potential for an alternate replacement with Dodge product via interchange/conversion.
