PBF is the brownfield project division of TotalEnergies E&P Angola and benefits of a matrix organization. It’s managing projects from FEED/Basic Engineering to Startup/ hand-over to Block Field Operation teams. The nature of the brownfield projects, i.e. most of the execution activities offshore are executed in SIMOPS on live FPSOs (Girassol, Dalia, Pazflor, CLOV on Block 17 and Kaombo Norte and Sul on Block 32) and congested seabed, increases the risks and consequently the challenges of the projects (co-activities with other projects and maintenance activities, minimization of production shortfalls…). PBF is managing EPCI contracts with major international Contractors but also local players including onshore prefabrication in Angola, offshore construction and Installation (FPSO modifications, SURF, SPS, SIMOPS, high number of contractors & subcontractors).

Job Description

Main responsibilities:

  • The SURF PBF package team will work on all the ongoing PBF projects through a SURF transverse organization. The Service holder will work on several projects at different stages at the same time and must work easily in a transverse team.
  • The Service holder is accountable for demonstrating exemplary behaviour with regard to H3SE rules and requirements and for ensuring their implementation within their scope of responsibility.
  • The Service holder is in charge, within the SURF team and under the responsibility of the Technical Leader, of activities related to Material (Non-Destructive Examination / material selection, etc.), Corrosion and Welding.
  • The Service holder will ensure that, during detailed engineering, procurement and construction phases, all deliverables and documents related to the disciplines and subjects they are in charge of are timely issued and fit for purpose. They will ensure compliance of contractors’ deliverables with Company H3SE requirements, applicable codes and standards, best engineering practices and Project specifications, and review deviations and technical queries.
  • The Service holder will be the contractor’s point of contact for all matters related to the disciplines and subjects they are in charge of.
  • The Service holder will participate in the management of discipline-related engineering interfaces with other disciplines/packages, monitor engineering progress and liaise with other specialists in the SURF team to ensure consistency of work.
  • The Service holder will participate in the follow-up of SURF procurement and construction on yard, remaining the correspondent for engineering, procurement and construction problems and for advice on technical deviation requests.
  • They will liaise as necessary with the SURF Interface Engineer for management of related interfaces.
  • They will ensure confidentiality of all discipline-related documentation produced.
  • They will gather lessons learned and provide feedback to the Engineering and Procurement Leader and other Total E&P entities as required.
  • They will ensure safe working practices are used within the team at all project phases.
  • They will ensure that state-of-the-art, TEPA referential and local rules/laws are complied with and captured in all contractual requirements during the CCFT stage.
  • They will promote innovation, seek optimisation and savings throughout the project, focusing on costs without compromising QHSE objectives.

Main activities:

  • Issue and maintain all necessary technical documentation related to the disciplines.
  • Ensure contractual scope of work is duly and timely performed by the contractor.
  • Maintain daily liaison with the contractor on discipline-related matters.
  • Participate in weekly and/or monthly coordination meetings with the contractor as appropriate.
  • Follow-up, review and validate progress performed by the contractor, analyse/report drifts and propose remedial solutions.
  • Supervise and control detailed engineering by reviewing discipline-related documentation issued by the contractor, ensuring compliance with specifications, procedures, international norms and standards, respecting the schedule and optimising costs without impacting quality and safety.
  • Raise necessary comments and highlight unsafe design, deviations, unjustified design choices, constructability issues.
  • Report to the Engineering and Procurement Leader (progress, concerns) and anticipate problems, potential optimisations or improvements, offering solutions related to their disciplines.
  • Participate in project reviews requested by Company requirements (HAZOP, HAZID, PR…) and in Safety / Technical Audits for their disciplines.
  • Liaise and interface actively with other SURF specialists on engineering, procurement, constructability, operability and maintainability matters, ensuring consistency of work.
  • Assist Company Representatives at fabrication sites, including witnessing welding operations, reviewing NDE techniques and acceptance criteria, assessing welding environment, evaluating materials and consumables, attending independent test houses for mechanical testing, and reviewing special processes.
  • Participate in resolving any discipline-related problem during execution, reviewing and recommending on technical deviation requests, and keeping discipline documentation updated.
  • Suggest, organise and participate in necessary inspections, giving advice related to disciplines.

Qualifications

  • Professional experience: 15-20 years in the Oil & Gas industry on Offshore Projects / Fields.
  • Experience in a similar position: approx. 10 years with experience of SURF equipment.
  • Level / Diploma: Engineer or equivalent.
  • Languages: English mandatory.
  • Frequent missions to be forecasted due to spread of work package locations.
  • Worldwide missions to be forecasted due to spread of contractors’ manufacturing sites, fabrication yards, sub-vendor facilities.
