Project Manager - Painting & Blasting

We are supporting a leading marine and heavy industrial services business with the appointment of an experienced Project Manager to oversee complex repair, blasting, painting, and refurbishment projects.
This is a key role focused on delivering technically demanding projects safely, on time, and within budget, working across ship repair, marine maintenance, and industrial surface preparation scopes.
The successful candidate will take full ownership of project execution from client handover through to final delivery, coordinating internal teams, subcontractors, and client stakeholders throughout.
The Role
As Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading multiple projects across drydock and alongside repair scopes, with a strong focus on surface preparation, blasting, coating systems, steel works, and technical refurbishment activities.
You will manage schedules, manpower, budgets, subcontractors, and client communication, ensuring all works are delivered in line with quality, QHSE, and commercial expectations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Full project ownership from award to completion
- Planning and coordinating labour, subcontractors, materials, and equipment
- Managing blasting, coating, steel renewal, and repair operations
- Monitoring progress against programme milestones
- Budget control, cost forecasting, and variation management
- Acting as the main client interface during project execution
- Leading site teams, supervisors, inspectors, and subcontractors
- Ensuring strict compliance with HSE and quality standards
- Producing progress reports and commercial updates
- Supporting claims, additional works, and project close‑out
Ideal Background
- Ship repair / shipyard project management
- Marine coatings, blasting, and surface treatment
- Offshore, naval, or commercial vessel repair
- Heavy industrial maintenance / steel structures
- Surface preparation inspection or coatings supervision backgrounds progressing into PM roles
- Candidates with FROSIO, NACE, AMPP, ICorr, or equivalent coating inspection / project certifications would be highly advantageous.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience as a Project Manager, Senior Supervisor, or Operations Manager
- Strong background in blasting, painting, and corrosion protection systems
- Experience managing marine or heavy industrial repair projects
- Commercial awareness and budget responsibility
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in a live operational environment
- Working knowledge of both French and English
