Scope of the Role
The Production Control Lead will support the Senior Project Manager in the delivery of projects safely, on time, and within budget, with a particular emphasis on Production Control ensuring that project execution aligns with schedules, resource plans, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities Of The Role
- Production Control & Scheduling: Fully understand project schedules, including milestones and deliverables. Monitor progress against baseline plans and identify variances early. Coordinate with subcontractors and internal teams to ensure adequate resourcing and timely execution.
- Reporting & Documentation: Ensure accurate and on‑time information is issued for weekly and monthly progress reports tracking % completion, schedule performance, and cost variances.
- Quality & Compliance: Ensure all works comply with Mercury’s health and safety standards and permitting requirements. Verify subcontractor compliance with approved processes and production plans.
- Leadership: Lead DABs and collaborative planning meetings with peers and subcontractors, providing support and guidance to project teams so they understand the plan and can visualise what is required to ensure project success.
- Cost & Resource Management: Assist in managing project budgets and validating subcontractor invoicing against progress. Support procurement and vendor‑management activities to ensure timely material and resource availability.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify bottlenecks in production workflows and propose corrective actions. Contribute to process optimization initiatives to improve delivery efficiency.
- Assist with preparation of weekly and monthly progress reporting on project status that track % complete, schedule performance, and baseline variance.
- Deliver all projects in line with both Mercury Engineering and the client’s health and safety requirements.
- Ensure that all work performed is delivered in accordance with the permitting requirements of Mercury’s electrical safety rules.
- Carry out routine inspection of the projects being executed to confirm they are being performed in line with the scope of work and schedule agreed.
- Monitor that subcontractors have sufficiently resourced the project being delivered to maintain the delivery schedule.
Essential Criteria For The Role
- Degree or certification in Project Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 2–3 years’ experience in project coordination or production control within construction or engineering environments.
- Strong understanding of scheduling collaborative planning tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, Visilean) and reporting techniques.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- An understanding and/or experience of electrical and mechanical systems used in a data centre or similar environment.
- Understanding all the associated safety code related requirements relative to providing the service.
- Understanding of Health & Safety Risk Assessments, HRAs and Control Measures.
- Experience in vendor management, ability to manage and monitor progress to ensure objectives are achieved for outsourced support and projects.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate intelligently and effectively with the client, employees and subcontractors.
