Director of Technology – E-commerce Platform

Our client, a major global online retailer generating billions of dollars in revenue, is looking for a Director Technology to drive ambitious growth.

As Senior Director Technology you will drive digital transformation, scale the e-commerce platform to new heights, and shape the technical strategy while leading the evolution of the architecture toward a modern, scalable, and innovative ecosystem. This position is based in Paris with an exceptional package and WFH flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the technology roadmap aligned with business objectives and growth ambitions
• Drive digital innovation and identify emerging technologies to maintain competitive advantage
• Lead the transformation toward modern MACH architecture (Microservices, API‑first, Cloud‑native, Headless)
• Establish the technology strategy for global e‑commerce operations (42 websites, 4 marketplaces)
• Oversee the design and evolution of the e‑commerce architecture
• Champion headless commerce and API‑first approaches
• Lead microservices architecture implementation and optimization
• Ensure scalability, performance, and resilience of the online platform
• Lead and inspire a team of 10+ technical experts in direct management
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence
• Mentor and develop technical talent across the organization
• Ensure successful delivery of strategic technology initiatives

Qualifications

• 12+ years in technology leadership roles with a proven track record in e‑commerce and online retail at scale
• Deep expertise in modern e‑commerce platforms (Magento, SAP Hybris, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Shopify Plus) and MACH architecture (Microservices, API‑first, Cloud‑native, Headless)
• Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud‑native architectures
• Strong knowledge of API design, microservices patterns, distributed systems, and headless commerce implementations
• Proven experience managing teams of 10+ professionals with strong leadership and team‑building capabilities
• International mindset with strong communication skills and experience in DevOps, CI/CD, and agile methodologies
• Fluency in English (C1, direct reporting line)
