Compensation and Benefits
For this U.S. based position, the compensation range is $211,000 - $253,200 per year, including base pay and short-term incentive. This range applies to candidates located within the United States. Pay is determined by factors such as performance, experience, and education.

Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced System Architecture leader. As chief system architect, you will act as the highest‑level technical authority driving the architecture, evolution, and long‑term strategy of complex industrial automation systems—including the full Foxboro SDA technology stack across hardware, firmware, software, and cloud.
Responsibilities
- Define and lead system architecture strategy for HW/FW/SW/Cloud advanced industrial automation platforms, including Foxboro SDA.
- Architect modern industrial automation solutions using technologies such as OPC UA over TSN, deterministic industrial Ethernet, embedded Linux firmware, secure OS architecture, Docker containers, Kubernetes/K3s, microservices, distributed system patterns, API‑based architectures, high availability, redundancy, and real‑time failover mechanisms.
- Apply advanced industrial networking (L2/L3 switching, VLANs, QoS, PRP/HSR/MRP, segmentation).
- Handle DCS integration, controller communication models, and edge‑to‑cloud coordination.
- Drive platform modernization and long‑term technology roadmap for Schneider Electric’s industrial automation systems.
- Influence multi‑business‑unit engineering standards and technology strategy for next‑generation automation architecture.
- Mentor architects, technical leaders, and R&D teams; elevate technical excellence and engineering rigor globally.
- Represent Schneider Electric in standards bodies, external technical forums, and industry consortiums.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in industrial automation, systems engineering, or control system architecture.
- Proven mastery across hardware, embedded firmware, software platforms, and cloud‑native systems.
- Deep technical expertise in industrial protocols (OPC UA, TSN, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP), Linux firmware, real‑time OS, secure embedded architectures, deterministic Ethernet, redundancy protocols, routing/switching, segmentation, security fundamentals, containerization and orchestration technologies, distributed architectures, microservices, APIs, and high‑availability mission‑critical system design.
- Demonstrated leadership through influence with strong peer‑to‑peer communication and debate skills.
- Strong technical judgment balancing performance, cost, risk, and business impact.
- Excellent communication across executive, engineering, customer, and industry audiences.
- Solid understanding of business viability, industrial automation market trends, and long‑term technology economics.
Reporting
You will report to the Sr Director of System Architecture, Cyber Security and DevSecOps. This is a hybrid position requiring presence at the Foxboro, MA or Andover, MA office at least 3 days a week and up to 25% travel per year.
