Publicist, Beauty - Media Relations

The Publicist, Beauty will lead media strategy, press outreach, and editorial placement for top beauty brands. This role manages PR campaigns, influencer relations, and high-profile media activations, ensuring impactful brand storytelling. The candidate will oversee press initiatives, and cultivate relationships with editors and beauty insiders. Strong leadership, communication, and media expertise are essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Media Relations & Strategy

• Develop and execute high-level PR strategies, securing top-tier beauty press coverage across all platforms
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with beauty editors, journalists, influencers, and industry professionals.
• Lead editorial outreach, feature placements, and brand storytelling, ensuring alignment with client goals.
• Oversee media pitching efforts across beauty, fashion, and lifestyle platforms, including print, digital, and broadcast.
• Monitor beauty industry trends, competitor activity, and media opportunities to enhance client visibility.
• Analyze media performance metrics, offering strategic insights to refine PR and brand positioning.

Client & Account Management

• Serve as the primary client contact, ensuring a seamless and strategic PR experience.
• Develop and execute seasonal PR campaigns, managing feature stories, product placements, and event press coverage.
• Lead client meetings, strategy sessions, and media presentations, providing expert guidance on PR initiatives.
• Ensure consistent and professional client communication, managing expectations and delivering high-quality results.
• Support business development efforts, working with senior leadership to acquire new clients and expand KCD Beauty’s presence.
• Manage and mentor interns, overseeing campaign execution and professional growth.
• Oversee sample trafficking, press requests, and media list management, ensuring efficient operations.
• Foster team collaboration and knowledge‑sharing, promoting a high‑performing and innovative work environment.
• Work closely with KCD’s Digital and Social teams, ensuring alignment between PR, influencer partnerships, and brand messaging.

Event & Beauty Industry Support

• Develop and execute press strategies for beauty events, influencer activations, and industry campaigns.
• Oversee front‑of‑house media coordination, ensuring seamless execution of press activations, product launches, and brand events.
• Act as a key liaison between clients, media, and internal teams, ensuring successful execution of beauty industry activations.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years of experience in beauty PR, preferably within agency, editorial, or brand environments.
• A degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience in pitching beauty, lifestyle, and digital media, with a strong background in beauty PR and influencer relations.
• Established relationships with beauty editors, influencers, and media professionals.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills (French/English), with the ability to craft compelling media narratives.
• Strong time management and multitasking abilities, capable of overseeing multiple beauty clients and PR initiatives.
• Deep knowledge of skincare, cosmetics, beauty trends, and digital influencer marketing.
• Blend of creative and strategic thinking, with the ability to shift between brand storytelling and data‑driven media analysis.
• A strong work ethic and results‑driven mindset, demonstrating initiative, accountability, and passion for the industry.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, while leading projects independently & mentoring junior staff.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with media tracking platforms (Launchmetrics or similar) is preferred.
• Ability to travel (domestic/international) as needed for beauty industry events, influencer activations, and press meetings.
