Role Overview – Director of Communications
We are partnering with a renowned luxury beauty brand to hire a Director of Communications. This senior leadership role is responsible for overseeing and driving the company’s communications strategy across all channels, with a specific focus on maintaining and enhancing the brand’s image, visibility, and reputation.
Leading a team of 6 communications professionals, the Director of Communications will work closely with the Executive team, Marketing, Digital, and Creative departments to shape the brand narrative, manage media relations, and build the brand’s presence within the competitive luxury beauty sector.
This role requires an expert in brand storytelling, media relations, and luxury communications who can strategically elevate the brand’s position as a leading beauty entity.
Key Responsibilities of the Director of Communications
- Communications Strategy & Brand PR: Develop and implement a global communications strategy to elevate the brand’s prestige and drive brand awareness across key media channels and markets.
- Media Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with high-tier beauty, fashion, and lifestyle media outlets. Secure consistent, high-profile coverage across international markets.
- Executive Thought Leadership: Position senior executives as thought leaders within the luxury beauty industry. Manage speaking engagements, media interviews, and other visibility opportunities.
- Messaging & Storytelling: Own and refine the brand’s messaging, ensuring alignment with the luxury beauty sector’s demands and the company’s core values. Craft compelling narratives that resonate with both beauty influencers and customers.
- Crisis Communications & Reputation Management: Lead communications during sensitive situations or crises, ensuring brand reputation is protected through consistent and effective messaging.
- Internal Communications: Foster a strong internal communications strategy that aligns employees with the brand’s values and ensures alignment across departments.
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of 6 communications professionals, providing guidance, strategic direction, and opportunities for professional development.
- Product Launches & Events: Oversee the communications strategy for major product launches, brand activations, and global events, ensuring consistent messaging and high-quality execution.
- Influencer Relations & Partnerships: Work closely with the Influencer Relations team to manage key beauty influencers, celebrities, and brand ambassadors, amplifying brand visibility.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with external agencies, brand partners, and stakeholders to ensure alignment of communications strategies across platforms.
Experience Required for the Director of Communications Role
The ideal candidate will have experience in the luxury beauty or premium lifestyle sector, with proven success in leading communications teams and building brand reputation, as well as:
- Proven experience leading communications for a luxury beauty brand, premium cosmetics, or high-end fashion/luxury brand.
- Extensive background in corporate communications, brand PR, and media relations within the beauty industry.
- Strong experience managing a communications team, with the ability to inspire, mentor, and develop talent.
- Track record of securing top-tier media coverage in leading beauty, fashion, and lifestyle publications.
- Expertise in managing crisis communications and handling sensitive brand issues with professionalism and discretion.
- Ability to work closely with senior executives, providing strategic communications counsel and advice.
- Deep understanding of luxury beauty consumers, trends, and emerging markets.
- Exceptional writing, messaging, and content creation skills—experience crafting compelling narratives for both global and regional audiences.
- Experience working with agencies and media outlets across global markets.
Additional Experience for This Luxury Beauty Communications Role
While not essential, the following experience would be considered a bonus:
- Experience with high-profile product launches, international campaigns, and major brand activations in the beauty industry.
- Familiarity with digital communications strategies and experience working with influencers, content creators, and social media.
- Previous experience in overseeing communications for luxury beauty brands with a strong focus on sustainability and ethical messaging.
