Project Engineer – Tidal Stream Energy
Department: Engineering Science, University of Oxford
Salary: Grade 7 – £39,424–£47,779 per annum (inclusive of Oxford University weighting)

Role Overview
We are seeking a full‑time Project Engineer to join the Environmental Fluid Mechanics research group. The post is funded by the EPSRC and is fixed‑term for 2 years, with a possibility of extension. The role focuses on designing, manufacturing, assembling, and testing laboratory‑scale tidal turbines and platform concepts as part of the EPSRC‑funded CoTide programme.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and specification of electrical and mechanical systems for tidal turbines and platforms.
- Perform CAD and FEA work to support design development.
- Identify and apply applicable certification standards in design.
- Collaborate with hydrodynamicists and computational modellers within a multidisciplinary research team.
- Support the development of whole‑system engineering models and innovative designs for tidal energy systems.
Qualifications
- Relevant undergraduate or higher level degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong background and experience in CAD, FEA, and the use of certification standards in design.
- Excellent communication skills.
