The Inpatient Rehabilitation department at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist seeks a full‑time physical therapist. Qualified applicants must have a strong focus on evidence‑based practice, patient‑centered care, strong communication skills with a multidisciplinary team, and flexibility with excellent time management in a fast‑paced environment. As part of an academic health system and Level 1 trauma center, therapists work with patients having traumatic and acquired brain injuries, strokes, spinal cord injuries, amputations, multi‑trauma accidents, cardiopulmonary interventions, oncologic diagnoses, and various orthopedic and neurologic conditions.

What You’ll Need
- B.S., M.S., or D.P.T. degree from an accredited physical therapy school
- Current licensure in the applicable state
- CPR certification in Basic Life Support, Level C
What You’ll Do
- Adhere to general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships, and team building. Follow hospital and departmental policies and procedures, contribute to overall quality of services, and stay informed about policy changes.
- Provide patient care assessment and treatment. Ensure patient evaluations and treatments are comprehensive, functional, and in accordance with the Standard of Practice. Use professional judgment to interpret evaluation results and establish an appropriate treatment plan with realistic goals, encouraging patients and significant others in goal setting.
- Recognize and respond to changes in the patient’s physiologic state, recommend the next level of care, and ensure quality patient outcomes. Supervise support staff assisting with patient care by providing direction and feedback.
- Maintain accurate documentation: completed written patient evaluations, progress notes, and discharge notes per policy; record patient/family education, charges, departmental statistics, and ICD‑10 codes as appropriate; keep patient records organized in a systematic order.
- Ensure documentation is legible, and meet department financial and productivity standards. Understand budgeted expectations, maintain productivity, and adjust individual schedules to meet departmental needs.
- Participate in process management to optimize quality and efficiency of services. Identify quality and operational opportunities, communicate progress barriers to supervisors, research, and suggest evidence‑based best practices to improve patient care quality.
- Promote professional development and education of other healthcare workers; provide representation on committees; conduct in‑service training programs to share state‑of‑the‑art information; keep abreast of local, state, and national developments in the profession; share clinical expertise with other therapists and staff.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, physicians, staff, and external customers; respond to staff questions; promote an open communication atmosphere; share insights from seminars; inform supervisors of issues and resolutions; communicate information to patients and families and ensure understanding.
- Provide appropriate patient care in accordance with age/developmental guidelines. Demonstrate age/developmentally specific knowledge, skills, and abilities; use such knowledge for assessment and treatment; interpret age/developmentally specific responses accurately; maintain competence by updating knowledge of growth, development, and aging.
