Description of Work
THIS IS AN ANTICIPATED VACANCY for 8/1/2026.
The Nurse Supervisor I is located at Brown Creek Correctional in Polkton, NC. Brown Creek is a medium custody facility housing approximately 916 male offenders.
The Nurse Supervisor is responsible for ensuring professional nursing care and treatment is afforded to patients within medical policies and protocols and is consistent with Board of Nursing requirements.
Responsibilities
- Direct supervision of all nursing staff, including staff schedules, assignments, orientation, performance improvement evaluations, and clinical competency evaluations.
- Supervises and conducts needs assessments, develops, implements and evaluates treatment plans and provides patient care and education to offenders.
- Ensures all policies and procedures are followed and submits short- and long-term care goals to leadership for review and approval.
- Performs administrative duties such as planning, organizing and managing daily operations, quality assurance, Human Resources management and staff development.
- Develops and maintains effective communication and work relationships with physicians, upper management, healthcare personnel, patients, families, agencies and others.
- Identifies and addresses quality monitoring and performance improvement issues for the facility.
- May be required to work any schedule to ensure medical operational needs are met at the facility level.
Qualifications
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina and two years of nursing experience.
Knowledge of basic nursing principles and techniques, including physical assessments, clinical judgments, treatment planning, and evaluation.
Knowledge of medications and carrying out prescribed treatments.
Knowledge of management and supervisory practices/procedures.
Salary and Benefits
Salary Pay Range: $71,698 - $118,304.
Full-time position (40 hours per week) with State benefits. Employees can participate in health insurance options, standard and supplemental retirement plans, and the NCFlex program. Employees also receive paid vacation, sick, community service leave and paid parental leave.
