Role and Facility Information: Vernon Jubilee Hospital, Vernon, BC – a 196-bed facility serving the North Okanagan region. The hospital offers comprehensive acute care with access to advanced medical services and technology. The practice opportunity focuses on pediatrics in Vernon with a fully equipped office, medical staff support, and teaching opportunities.

Position

If you are an empathetic and communicative pediatrician, this role enables you to practice in Vernon with two conveniently located offices near the hospital. You will join a team of five pediatricians, with support from experienced medical assistants and dedicated billing staff. You’ll have the freedom to set your own working hours to maintain work-life balance. Part-time options are welcome, and locum opportunities are available.

Responsibilities

• Provide pediatric care across a wide variety of cases, supported by community resources for complex situations.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including nursing staff and a dedicated diabetes clinic.
• Teach medical students and residents with a UBC faculty appointment.
• Engage in leadership roles and quality improvement initiatives; contribute to community health initiatives.
• Contribute to clinical governance and program development within Vernon Jubilee Hospital and associated clinics.

• Vernon Jubilee Hospital (VJH) provides emergency, inpatient, maternity, pediatrics, and surgical services with advanced technology.
• Available facilities include 9 delivery rooms, 4 nursery beds, and 5 pediatric beds.
• Expansion projects include Polson Tower and a planned 44 single-occupancy room psychiatric unit by 2029.

Compensation and Benefits

• Compensation Type: Fee-for-Service (estimated remuneration $300,000–$400,000 for full-time hours, with MOCAP level 1).
• Overhead: Low overhead with opportunities for passion projects.
• Vacation Leave: Flexible scheduling to recharge and unwind.
• Relocation Funding: Up to $9,000 within BC; up to $12,000 within Canada; up to $15,000 outside Canada.
• Other: Incentives subject to change; rates confirmed at the time of offer.
