Description of Work
The DHHS Information Technology (IT) Division provides enterprise information technology leadership and solutions to the department and its partners so that they can leverage technology, ultimately delivering consistent, cost‑effective, reliable, accessible, and secure services. The IT Division works with business divisions to help ensure the availability and integrity of automated information systems to meet business goals.
Network Analyst II will be responsible for supporting high‑availability server and VoIP operations, including Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Cisco Unity Connection, Cisco Expressway, Cisco endpoints and Jabber. The role requires expertise in network/server problem resolution, LAN Layer 2/3 switching, Palo Alto/Cisco firewalls, VMWare ESXi hosts, SIP, QoS, DNS, and DHCP. The Analyst will work with the State Laboratory of Public Health (SLPH) and Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) in Raleigh, NC to maintain and enhance critical communication and laboratory information systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of telecommunications network concepts, components, architecture, protocols, transport systems, and communications hardware and software.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and design network systems using the application of electronic and communications principles, communications protocols, and network topologies.
- Demonstrated ability to review and interpret various system logs and reports to troubleshoot and formulate solutions to network issues.
- Ability to coach and mentor junior network staff.
- Familiarity with medical systems or laboratory environments.
Salary and Benefits
Salary Grade Range: $75,818.00 - $113,727.00
Recruitment Range: $75,818.00 - $95,000.00

Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, an IT related field, or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in networking or a related area;
OR Associate degree in computer science, an IT related field, or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in networking or a related area;
OR High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and five years of experience in networking or a related area;
OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
