We are partnering with a well‑established, international engineering company to appoint a Managing Director for its French business.

This is a rare opportunity to take on a senior leadership role within a financially stable, privately owned organisation with a strong international presence, long‑term outlook, and a reputation for high‑quality, application‑driven electronic products. The French business is a key commercial hub, with strong existing foundations and clear potential for further growth and development.

The Role

This position combines commercial leadership, business development, and overall responsibility for the French operation.

The successful candidate will lead the local business, drive revenue growth, and strengthen relationships with customers and distribution partners, while also managing and developing a small, high‑impact team.

The role is ideally suited to a commercially strong, technically credible leader who can operate effectively in a design‑in‑led sales environment and is comfortable balancing strategic leadership with hands‑on customer engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Leadership & Business Development

  • Drive revenue growth across the French market through direct business development and key account management
  • Expand and strengthen relationships with distribution partners and OEM customers
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of design‑in opportunities and long‑term customer projects
  • Identify and develop new market opportunities and application areas
  • Represent the business in customer meetings, industry events, and key commercial discussions

Technical & Market Engagement

  • Engage credibly in technical‑commercial discussions, particularly around power conversion and electronic component applications
  • Support design‑in activity with customers, ensuring early specification into development projects
  • Work closely with technical support, product management, and global teams to deliver effective customer solutions
  • Maintain a strong understanding of market trends, applications, and competitive positioning

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop the French commercial organisation
  • Create a proactive, performance‑driven culture with clear expectations around customer activity and pipeline development
  • Support the evolution of team capability across field sales, inside sales, and technical support
  • Foster strong internal collaboration with international stakeholders

Business & Operational Responsibility

  • Take ownership of local business performance, including forecasting, budgeting, and operational effectiveness
  • Align local strategy with wider group objectives
  • Contribute to market visibility and demand generation activities
  • Ensure the business is structured to support long‑term, sustainable growth

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a well‑rounded commercial leader who combines strong technical understanding with proven business development and leadership capability.

Must‑Have Experience

  • Proven experience in technical B2B sales within electronic components, power electronics, or a closely related field
  • Strong understanding of the design‑in process and long‑cycle technical sales environments
  • Experience engaging with both distribution partners and direct OEM customers
  • Leadership experience within a small or mid‑sized organisation
  • Ability to combine team leadership with personal customer‑facing activity
  • Fluency in French and English
  • Experience in power electronics, power supplies, or related analog technologies
  • Exposure to adjacent areas such as power semiconductors or active electronic components
  • Existing network within relevant industrial sectors in France
  • Experience supporting marketing, demand generation, or market development initiatives
