Lead, Sales and Product Development - Lumber Specialties

This role is based out of Vernon, British Columbia.

We’re looking for a Lead, Sales and Product Development - Lumber Specialties to join our sales team at our head office located in Vernon, British Columbia. Our Vernon office houses Tolko’s corporate services groups including Sales, Marketing & Logistics, Finance, Accounting & Credit, IT, Procurement, and Human Resources.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of demonstrated success in wood product sales .
  • Post-secondary degree in a related field.
  • Proven customer service and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated computer-based analytical skills.
  • Self-starter with a high degree of initiative, resourcefulness and creativity.
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Ability to travel frequently across Canada and the U.S.
  • Knowledge of sawmill operations is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Represent Tolko’s lumber specialties portfolio, effectively positioning products to meet market demand and customer specifications.
  • Work closely with manufacturing, logistics, and internal sales teams to align production capabilities with customer requirements.
  • Maximize net return to our business units through effective product development, sales strategies, and monitoring of market conditions and competitor actions.
  • Work closely with Woodlands, Operations, and Marketing teams to bring new specialty products to market.
  • Work with members of the Sales Team and the Sales Coordinators to develop weekly and periodic sales lists for our external customers.
  • Manage finished inventory levels to target levels, considering inventory costs, market conditions, and product deterioration.
  • Provide regular information to internal customers regarding market trends and external customer feedback.
  • Negotiate fair settlements of customer claims on behalf of our business units.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual financial budgets, business plans, and strategic plans.
  • Work closely with 3rd‑party remanufacturing partners, understanding manufacturing process, cost, and quality requirements.
  • Professionally represent the Tolko Marketing and Sales team to the public.
