Position Overview

Instructor – Part‑time for Non‑credit Classes – Environmental (Continuing Professional Education, NJAES‑Cooperative Extension). Location: Rutgers University – New Brunswick campus, with courses also held at various locations in New Jersey or online. Salary: $25–200 per hour based on qualifications, experience, and funding.

Responsibilities

Instructors will develop and present course material during assigned course times, coordinate materials with the Program Coordinator, and follow‑up with necessary paperwork. Courses may cover topics such as Environmental Science, Food Science/Safety, Recycling/Solid Waste Management, Stormwater Management, Landscape/Horticulture, Pesticide Safety, Environmental Policy, and Drinking Water/Wastewater. Instructors may be required to deliver live‑online training via Zoom, Webex, or other virtual platforms.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. • Minimum of three to five years of relevant professional experience. • Excellent communication skills, adult learning knowledge, and effective facilitation techniques. • Computer literacy and familiarity with online instruction development and facilitation.

Equipment Utilized

Laptop, webcam, and projector.

Physical Demands

May have to carry up to 25 lbs in course materials/books for in‑person courses.
