What we do
A&M Tax is expanding its presence in Paris, and we are seeking an experienced and highly technical Head of Doctrine to help shape and elevate our growing tax practice. This is a strategic role designed for someone with deep expertise in French tax law, strong analytical capabilities, and a passion for thought leadership.
About the Role
As Head of Doctrine, you will build and lead the firm’s doctrinal framework in France. You will be responsible for establishing the technical foundations that reinforce our market credibility, support high‑value engagements, and position A&M Tax as a leading reference in complex and contentious tax matters.
Working closely with partners, directors, lawyers, and technical specialists, you will play a central role in:
Key Responsibilities
- Define and structure the firm’s doctrinal framework , ensuring consistency and technical rigor across the practice.
- Develop and formalize the firm’s positions on complex and emerging tax issues.
- Conduct ongoing tax and legislative monitoring, anticipating reforms and assessing implications for clients and the firm.
- Support the implementation of new tax legislation through technical notes, guidance, and strategic advice.
- Produce high‑level technical analyses to enhance quality, efficiency, and partner readiness in both transactional and contentious matters.
- Contribute to thought leadership , including drafting publications, articles, and insights for specialized tax reviews.
- Provide strategic support on high‑stakes matters
- Lead the internal Doctrine Committee , composed of senior tax lawyers and specialists, fostering shared expertise and innovation.
The Head of Doctrine is instrumental in strengthening our market position by:
- Enhancing credibility and trust in a market where leading tax firms have established doctrinal functions.
- Improving operational efficiency by centralizing high‑level technical analysis.
- Supporting litigation and controversy readiness , an increasingly critical expectation in high‑value engagements.
- Elevating the firm’s brand, visibility, and attractiveness to both clients and talent through publication and thought leadership.
- Building the foundation for a scalable knowledge and content model , with potential long‑term revenue‑generating opportunities.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in French tax law, ideally within a Big Four, leading law firm, or major tax advisory environment.
- Demonstrated ability to produce high‑level technical analyses and formalized doctrinal positions.
- Strong experience with complex transactions and/or tax litigation support.
- Excellent writing skills and contributions to technical publications or industry thought leadership.
- Leadership ability and a collaborative mindset to guide a multi‑disciplinary committee.
- Strategic thinking, intellectual rigor, and the ability to anticipate market and regulatory developments.
