Field Innovation & Excellence Work Lead
The Field Innovation and Excellence Work Lead is a global work lead role reporting to the Head of SPI Technology, and steers and guides SPI’s global field innovation & excellence strategy to deliver Product Supply outcomes. You are responsible for aligning global priorities and desired outcomes with regional work leads and key stakeholders across R&D, Commercial, and Product Supply. You will also be accountable for planning, monitoring, and managing global seed processing research and development projects from initiation through completion to ensure scalable, high‑impact delivery that advances seed performance, quality, and operational excellence.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead a global work team that focuses on driving innovation, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across seed production field operations;
- Lead development and implementation of novel field processes, technologies, and best practices to improve field performance, seed quality, productivity, and reliability;
- Coordinate with cross‑functional, regional, and global stakeholders to align priorities, timelines, resources, and deliverables;
- Guide and coach colleagues in designing, executing, and interpreting complex experiments and data to support evidence‑based decisions;
- Identify and prioritize the team’s highest‑impact work and ensure lessons learned and best practices are documented and shared across geographies;
- Track milestones, risks, budgets, and outcomes for innovation projects and drive scalable execution across production environments;
- Serve as a primary point of contact for global field innovation initiatives and foster a culture of quality ownership, accountability, learning, and continuous improvement;
- Partner with Work Leads and Home Leads on budget planning, forecasting, and resource optimization to maximize return on investment.
- Provide insights, recommendations, and resource optimization strategies to maximize return on investment and ensure effective use of budget resources.

- Research and Development – Breeding, ARI, Biotech, Crop Protection, Digital Science & Engineering,

WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree;
- Strong project management and change management skills with a proven track record of successful project delivery and people leadership;
- Proven ability to build effective cross‑functional collaborations and influence in a complex, matrixed organization;
- Experience designing, scaling, or implementing field/process technologies with a data‑driven approach to experimentation and decision making;
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to inspire, coach, and develop multidisciplinary teams;
- Flexible, adaptive mindset comfortable navigating organizational change and ambiguity, with a clear focus on connecting technical work to business priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- M.Sc. in agricultural research or a related technical field;
- 10+ years of experience in the seed industry with demonstrated delivery of technical and operational outcomes;
- Demonstrated experience operating as a visionary, architect, catalyst, and coach in technology‑led environments.
Employees can expect to be paid a salary of approximately between $178,320.00- $267,480.00 .Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc.. This salary (or salary range) is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
