Electronic Engineer
GTS Space is working with a company who are changing how satellite missions get to orbit through shared payload hosting, enabling organisations to fly sensors and experiments without building their own satellite or space segment. The product blends proprietary hardware with cloud-inspired software to deliver a genuine plug‑and‑play effect, and the team are running real flight programmes with very short paper‑to‑orbit timelines.
They are now hiring an Avionics / Hardware Engineer to join the systems and hardware team. The remit is centred on sizing, designing and justifying interface systems, with most of the work focused on electrical interfaces for power and data. The hardware team here is tightly integrated, so cross‑domain capability is genuinely valued and helps the group deliver products on time and to the right quality standard.
The role
- Design, manufacture and test ground and flight hardware, with a focus on physical power and data interfaces including boards, harnesses and analogue circuits
- Justify design decisions and contribute to technical documentation, including requirements derivation
- Work alongside systems engineers on the evolution of the product line, and support commercial and operational teams on product customisation
- Get involved in testing, process automation, design and redesign for manufacturing, and other adjacent activities as the team grows
What we are looking for
- Three to five years of experience in avionics within aerospace and defence, for example at a large subcontractor, a NewSpace satellite manufacturer, or a prime defence contractor
- Demonstrable experience with electrical hardware design and testing is essential
- Familiarity with the manufacturing of avionics equipment, from component through to subsystem level, is a strong bonus
- A technically grounded engineer with a systems mindset, with complementary skills across mechanical engineering or simple embedded software adding real value to the integrated team
- Strong technical communication
- Fluent English, basic French is a bonus
On the softer side, the team are looking for someone autonomous and execution‑driven, able to sketch out a project without heavy guidance and then implement the simpler pieces independently. Rigour in your own work matters, alongside an appetite for efficient documentation and testing. Curiosity is a real cultural marker here as well, with the team continually picking up new fields as the product evolves. Space experience is genuinely helpful but not a hard requirement, and backgrounds in balloon platforms, amateur rocketry, or commercial safety‑critical hardware are all of interest.
