These positions are based at our Luxembourg headquarters and require regular office presence. The EIB offers you the opportunity to live and work in a truly international and multi‑cultural environment.

The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Management Committee (MC) at its headquarters in Luxembourg: TRAINEES .

Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st September/October 2026). Possible extension up to 6 months if required by University.

Programme aims to attract applications from nationals of the Member States of the European Union. Candidates whose Erasmus+ programme overlaps with the duration of the traineeship will not be considered. Please limit your applications to a maximum of three traineeship publications; only the first three applications submitted will be considered.

Objective of the traineeship

The objective of the traineeship is to create a truly enriching and formative experience, both for the team and for the trainees. The traineeship is conceived as an opportunity to actively participate in the day‑to‑day life of the Management Committee (MC) environment, gaining a close and concrete understanding of how high‑level institutional activities are prepared, coordinated and supported. Through direct exposure to MC‑related work, the trainees will have the opportunity to observe and contribute to meaningful activities, learn from experienced colleagues and progressively build confidence in a complex and stimulating professional setting. The traineeship is designed to go beyond observation, allowing the trainees to feel genuinely involved and to understand the value of their contribution within a broader institutional context. At the same time, the traineeship aims to foster professional and personal development by offering insight into governance processes, cross‑institutional coordination and collaborative ways of working. It represents a unique opportunity to develop transferable skills such as organization, critical thinking, communication and adaptability, while gaining a realistic picture of how strategic activities are supported within the Bank.

Responsibilities

In particular, you will:

  • Support the preparation and organization of MC meetings, including coordination of inputs and documentation.
  • Contribute to the drafting, consolidation and quality check of MC‑related documents and materials.
  • Assist in ensuring alignment with internal procedures and timelines.
  • Support coordination with internal stakeholders involved in MC activities.
  • Contribute to specific projects linked to MC activities, including structured follow‑up, analysis and process improvement initiatives.

Academic Qualifications And Professional Skills

  • Final year of studies or University degree in Political Science, Law, European Studies, International Relations, Economics, Business, or related disciplines;
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks under strict deadlines;
  • Very good drafting and written communication skills, with attention to detail and clarity;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information in a professional and discreet manner;
  • Interest in process improvement and digitalization, with a proactive and solution‑oriented mindset;
  • Experience of working in virtual teams would be considered an advantage;
  • Excellent knowledge of standard Microsoft Office tools (in particular PowerPoint and Excel);
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and/or French. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage.
