DB2 z/OS Expert (Hybrid)

Duration: 12 months (extendable up to 3 years)

Working Model: 100% onsite for the first 3 months (non-negotiable)
Then 1 day remote per week (subject to conditions)

Context
We are supporting a major financial services organisation in the search for a DB2 z/OS Expert to join an existing mainframe team. This is a highly technical, operational role focused on RUN / MCO (maintenance in operational condition).
The consultant will be expected to integrate quickly into the existing team and actively contribute to the stability and performance of a critical environment.
This position is not development or data-focused — it is strictly related to DB2 system administration on a mainframe (z/OS).
Key Responsibilities
- Strengthen the DB2 systems team and contribute to daily RUN / MCO activities
- Manage incidents, support requests, and changes
- Provide Level 3 (L3) support within a critical environment
- Perform system maintenance activities (patching, fixes, stabilisation)
- Participate in technical projects such as migrations, upgrades, and relocations
- Ensure availability, stability, and continuity of the DB2 platform
Required Skills & Experience
- 15+ years of experience with DB2
- Strong experience in DB2 system administration (not development)
- Significant experience in MCO / RUN / production environments
- Experience handling L3 incidents in critical environments
- Ability to work in a structured, operations-focused environment
- Comfortable working onsite and with operational constraints (on-call, extended hours if needed)
Nice to Have
- Experience in banking, insurance, or other regulated industries
- Involvement in migration, upgrade, or infrastructure transformation projects
- Broader knowledge of mainframe / system environments
