ATR - Experimented Mass Properties Engineer (H/F) - AVIONS DE TRANSPORT REGIONAL (ATR) GIE
Overview
Job Description: Come onboard with the ATR Aircraft Performance & Mass Properties team and become Mass Properties Engineer of our Engineering directorate in Philippe's Team. You will work with 7 passionate colleagues to make a difference in a human size company with attractive advantages.
Responsibilities
- Define, implement and monitor mass properties management standards, tools and processes
- Prepare status and outlook weight, center of gravity and inertia data for aircraft in development
- Initial estimate of the impacts on weight and center of gravity of the modifications on aircraft
- Ensure the follow-up and validation of the final analysis of the impacts on weight, center of gravity and inertia of the modifications on aircraft carried out by the subcontractor (ATA paint & routing)
- Provide support to Chief Engineering and Program for decision making
- Lead exchanges with Airbus and Leonardo partners for mass properties domain
- Lead weight saving project (design and maturity review with partners and engineering center of competence)
- Provide internal and external support on all matters relating to mass properties
- Collaborate with various engineering centers of competence (documentation, cabin, system, load, structure, certification) as well as with the offices in relation with the customer (marketing, technical and operational support, delivery) in the quest for optimum mass
- Preparation and execution of contractual weighing and creation of weight reports, loading plans and trim sheets
- Preparation and follow-up of loading plans for test flights of production aircraft and ATR prototypes
- Punctual interventions on the ATR production site during the day, in the evening and on weekends, on call-duty, for contractual weighing (mainly in the last quarter or during periods of strong delivery activities)
Qualifications
- Field of study: Degree in Aeronautical Engineering
- Experience: 5 to 15 years in Mass properties (Engineering)
- Technical skills / knowledge: Weight, Center of gravity and Inertia assessment methods
- Definition: Weight limitations and certified center of gravity envelope
- Definition: Mechanical equilibrium of an aircraft on ground
- Knowledge: General knowledge of aeronautical structure, systems and cabin
- Software: Microsoft Office, especially Excel and VBA programming for macros
- Tools: CATIA V5 or 3DEX or ARAS; good knowledge of Airbus tools (IBM, EBAM, Airina...)
- Soft skills: Good communication, well organized with team spirit, open-minded and proactive to priority changes
- Languages: Fluent in English and French (Italian a plus)
- Readiness to travel/perform on-site interventions as required for weighing activities
