Offer Description
The candidate will further develop this expertise in spectrokinetic analysis methods within the SPECTROCAT team, while collaborating with all laboratory members working on catalysis and catalytic materials. Both individual and collaborative research projects will focus on topics related to energy and environmental challenges.
The recruited person will teach physical chemistry (Years 1 to 3 of the engineering curriculum) within the “Materials–Chemistry” specialization at ENSICAEN. Core curriculum teaching will mainly cover thermodynamics and chemical kinetics. More specialized courses, primarily delivered in the second and third years, will address topics such as heterogeneous catalysis, remediation catalysis, and industrial process intensification. These themes are aligned with the goals of energy transition and industrial decarbonization, with a particular emphasis on CO₂ capture and utilization.
The candidate must be able to deliver and develop high-level teaching in these areas. He or she will also be responsible for designing and supervising laboratory practical sessions, particularly in kinetic modeling and life cycle assessment.
The recruited person must be able to teach in English when necessary. In addition, he or she will actively contribute to the organization of the program, including project management, internship supervision, and student recruitment. Professional experience in industry will be considered an asset.
In the longer term, the Associate Professor will take on collective responsibilities within ENSICAEN, thereby strengthening his or her involvement in the institution’s development and governance.
The successful candidate for the position of Associate Professor (Maître de Conférences) will have a strong academic background and proven experience in the field of heterogeneous catalysis. Knowledge of (micro)kinetics would be highly appreciated. He or she will be expected to analyze and compare data obtained from operando spectroscopic analyses and catalytic testing in order to simulate reaction mechanisms through the development of appropriate computational codes.
