Asset-backed Investment Manager - Origination
Founded in 2011, Flexam thematic investment strategy is to provide senior secured debt to finance growth capex of European SMEs (through asset finance) driven by secular sustainable trends. This means we only finance the transformation and growth capex of companies that need to acquire tangible assets to operate in the fields of supply chain sustainability, regional development, and mission‑critical services.

As a recognised specialist in transformation and capex financing, Flexam is now fully integrated to Kartesia, providing a diversifying and complementary strategy to the debt platform, which has deployed €7bn across 9 local offices in Europe.
The Origination Manager will be responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and structuring investment opportunities across KAF’s target sectors. This role is critical to driving the growth of the funds by identifying attractive investments and partnerships, negotiating terms, and ensuring alignment with KAF’s investment strategies. The position requires a proactive, commercially minded professional with strong analytical skills and the ability to build strategic relationships.
Main Scope of Influence
- Identify and originate new investment opportunities across target sectors (mainly transportation and logistics: maritime, aviation, land transport, logistics, etc.).
- Build and maintain strong relationships with sponsors, advisors, brokers, banks, funds, and other industry stakeholders to develop a permanent robust deal pipeline.
- Lead initial screening, focusing on main investment due diligence KPI’s working closely with the deal team.
- Participate in negotiations for commercial terms and assist in structuring transactions to optimize risk‑return profiles.
- Monitor market trends, regulatory developments, and competitor activity to inform origination strategy.
- Provide input into sector allocation and investment priorities, supporting strategic decision‑making.
Stakeholder Management
- Represent KAF in negotiations, industry forums, and networking events.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal teams to ensure smooth handover and integration post‑investment.
Qualifications & Skills
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field; MBA or CFA preferred.
Experience:
- +7 years in origination, investment banking, broker, project finance, with a focus on transportation assets.
- Proven track record of sourcing and closing transactions in relevant sectors.
Technical Skills:
- Strong financial modeling and valuation capabilities.
- Solid understanding of project finance structures, risk assessment, and transaction structuring.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent negotiation and communication abilities.
- Ability to build and maintain a strong network within the real asset private debt.
- Strategic thinker with strong problem‑solving skills and commercial acumen.
