Location: Vancouver, Canada. Duration: Minimum 4 weeks. Cost: from 2295 USD. Fee includes all food, accommodation, pre‑departure + in‑country support, orientation and all project related activities. Does not include flights, travel insurance, personal spending, visas and vaccinations.
About the Opportunity
Care for injured and orphaned wildlife at Canada’s largest wildlife rehabilitation center near Vancouver. Focus on bird rehabilitation, helping species like songbirds, shorebirds, and waterfowl recover and return to the wild. Join a dedicated team of staff and international volunteers in a dynamic, hands‑on environment. Enjoy a balanced schedule with three days off weekly to explore the natural and urban wonders of British Columbia.
Responsibilities
- Assist in caring for nearly 5,000 injured, orphaned, or pollution‑affected animals each year; specialized in native bird species such as songbirds, waterfowl, and shorebirds.
- Perform daily tasks including feeding, cleaning, habitat prep, and basic treatment support.
- Help reduce human‑wildlife conflict by assisting with relocation of animals from urban areas to safe, remote habitats.
- Support a year‑round program welcoming over 190 volunteers annually; work alongside experienced staff and volunteers.
Schedule & Commitment
Minimum commitment of six weeks, schedule of 6‑8 hours a day, four days a week, giving three days off to explore Greater Vancouver area.
Requirements & Experience
Physical fitness and willingness to work in fast‑paced, seasonally varied environment. No prior experience required; volunteers learn on the job.
