Aircall is a leading AI‑powered customer communications platform that connects teams with voice, SMS, WhatsApp, and AI. We’re expanding globally and looking for a VoIP engineer to ensure our voice services remain stable, high‑performance, and scalable.
Responsibilities
- Own the Voice Stack: Design, implement and maintain the SIP/RTP/WebRTC infrastructure that powers our global voice platform.
- Cloud SBC Management: Configure, deploy and operate our Cloud Session Border Controllers (SBCs) with deep expertise in Ribbon to manage carrier interconnects, security policies and numbering plan logic.
- DevOps and Cloud Infrastructure: Implement Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform or CloudFormation to manage voice infrastructure on AWS and integrate voice services into CI/CD pipelines.
- Monitoring & Reliability: Set up and maintain advanced monitoring, alerting and logging systems such as Datadog and Hepic to proactively identify and resolve high‑severity incidents related to connectivity and audio media quality.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Infrastructure, Carrier Relations and Product teams to introduce new features, improve call routing logic and troubleshoot complex end‑to‑end communication issues.
- Automation: Introduce automation for recurring operational tasks, network provisioning and reporting.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a VoIP/Telecommunications Engineer in a high‑volume, cloud‑based environment.
- Expert‑level knowledge of SIP, RTP and associated protocols.
- Deep, hands‑on experience deploying and managing Cloud SBCs, specifically Ribbon, and strong practical experience with AWS cloud infrastructure (EC2, VPC, Lambda, SQS, CloudWatch).
- Solid networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, UDP, BGP, firewalls).
Nice‑to‑haves
- AI‑driven software development skills in scripting and backend development using languages such as TypeScript, Node.js, Python or Go.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience working with large‑scale data analysis related to voice quality and call detail records (CDRs).
