Job Description

Airbus Helicopters is seeking an Avionics Architect (M/F) to join our Avionics and Systems Architecture Department, based in Marignane, France.

The role offers an opportunity to develop skills around Integrated Modular Avionics (ATA42) and will include a temporary immersion in the Commercial Aircraft division in Toulouse for approximately six months.

Responsibilities (Helicopters)

  • Anticipate future needs and assess possible avionics solutions throughout concept, research, pre‑development and in‑service phases.
  • Collect stakeholder needs and translate them into operational concepts and use‑cases.
  • Perform functional analysis, define functional architecture (including functional flows), and specify all functional and non‑functional requirements allocated to avionics systems.
  • Validate and cascade the complete set of avionics requirements to avionics functions.
  • Define all external avionics interfaces and propose the most effective design based on trade‑offs, safety, customer needs, cost, weight, volume, re‑use, and industrial strategy.
  • Lead filter board discussions at the avionics level for problem reporting, and ensure overall verification activities.
  • Prepare technical substantiation materials for qualification and certification at the avionic level and lead flight‑clearance activity.
  • Perform interfaces with other helicopter systems (vehicle, ground segment, open world).

Responsibilities (Commercial)

  • Manage on‑board software integration for Integrated Modular Avionics computers on programmes such as A350, A400M, A380 and future projects.
  • Collect and allocate integrated modular avionics platform resources (memory, CPU time, I/O) to system software applications.
  • Create overall platform configuration and generate software configuration files for upload to the aircraft.
  • Prepare validation, verification and certification documentation following safety‑critical certified processes and methodologies.
  • Request technical support from the IMA Avionics Platform Technical Referent when necessary.
  • Steer operationally and ensure performance and delivery of subcontractors involved in contracted engineering work.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Graduate in engineering.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Strong knowledge and interest in avionics and aircraft systems.
  • Knowledge of IT technologies.
  • Proactive, autonomous, rigorous, well‑organized.
  • Collaborative, team‑player with good stakeholder‑management skills.
