System Designer for Shared Resources Avionic Platform (F/M)
Job Overview
Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a System Designer for the future IMA Avionics Platform (M/F) to join the Cockpit & Platforms Avionics Department based in Toulouse, France. The role is part of the 1YAKA team responsible for Integrated Modular Avionic (IMA) computers (Core Processing Modules, Remote Data Concentrators) and data networks (ADCN). As a key member of the Avionics Platforms team, you will drive the technical design and definition of the future generation of IMA computers, which are critical hardware/software components in Airbus next-generation system architecture (DAL-A) for the Next Generation Single Aisle.
Responsibilities
- Advanced Platform Study: support TRL reviews (to reach TRL6) and de-risking activities to evaluate feasibility and characteristics of future platform architectures in a safety-critical context, including emerging architectures such as RISC-V, multicore processing management in IMA context, combinatory logic functions, etc.
- IMA System Design: define high-level requirements for the core processing perimeter, focusing on hardware virtualization and the interface with ARINC-653 RTOS solutions.
- Supplier Follow-up: act as the technical counterpart for potential future suppliers during research and pre-development phases.
- V&V and Certification Pre-compliance: ensure early-stage designs are architected to meet applicable standards (including ARP4754, DO-254, DO-178C (DAL-A)) and initiate V&V and certification strategies to meet DAL-A standard.
- Strategic Evolution: nurture the technical dossiers required for the eventual launch of full-scale development (in the 3-5 year horizon).
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience with a strong foundation in electronics/hardware/software/A/C systems engineering.
- Knowledge of modern avionics platform architectures.
- Knowledge of hardware and software development constraints.
- Knowledge of DO-178 / DO-254 / ARP4754.
- Systems mindset: ability to stay at the system level - defining what the module must do while leaving the how to the supplier’s detailed design.
- Real-time OS familiarity: knowledge of ARINC-653 concepts and constraints of commercial real-time operating systems.
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent technical writing skills in English.
- Awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity.
