Truck & Trailer Legal & Compliance Partner

The Truck and Trailer Division Legal & Compliance Specialist will be a member of the General Secretary’s Legal and Compliance Team. The role consists of providing legal expertise and day-to-day compliance support to the Truck and Trailer Division (Truck Assistance International (TAI) and EBTS). You will support the division in ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, contractual obligations, and internal standards, with a particular focus on maintaining an international overview of EU legislation and regulatory developments impacting the business.

What you’ll be doing:

Business Partnering and contract management

• Contribute to legal activities for the Truck Division by preparing, reviewing, and supporting the negotiation of qualitative contracts with clients and providers across Europe, working with external law firms when required and under the guidance of senior legal leadership and AXA standards and procedures.
• Secure the delivery of qualitative contracts with clients and providers across Europe, whether they are designed inhouse or delegated to external firms
• Provide business partnering support, on all Truck and Trailer Division legal and compliance matters
• Focus on early warning on any emerging issues, including legal or regulatory changes
• Ensure that work is progressed in a proactive and commercial way offering solutions and alternative approaches where appropriate

Governance and control

• Ensure appropriate escalation of issues and matters requiring approval.

Compliance

• Support the Regional Senior Compliance Officer in assessing, mitigating and remediating compliance and regulatory risks
• Support the implementation and day-to-day coordination of compliance matters for the Truck Division, including topics related to Financial Crime, International Sanctions and Restrictive Measures, Anti-Bribery & Corruption (Anti-Bribery Policy, Conflict of Interest, Gifts & Entertainment), due diligence procedures, Ethics and Professional Conduct, and other relevant compliance frameworks.
• Support the business team on any compliance matters that may arise as part of the Truck and Trailer activities
• Assist in the delivery of compliance training and awareness in the Truck Division, completion of regulatory reporting as prescribed and defined
• Provide support in completing the annual Compliance Risk Assessment and Anti-Bribery and Corruption Risk Assessment for the Truck and Trailer Division
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the AXA Partners Legal team to promote a “One AXA” approach and contribute to an effective, integrated legal and compliance function.

What you’ll bring:

• Minimum 4 years of experience in the legal and compliance field
• Experience in the insurance/finance sector, preferably with an insurer, bank, or broker
• Excellent understanding of and experience with the regulatory framework for insurance in France and the European Union
• Ability to communicate and present legal and other information clearly, precisely, and understandably to the target audience
• Experience in commercial negotiations with proven drafting and negotiation skills
• Business acumen, ability to influence, and high personal integrity
• Flexibility, adaptability, ability to challenge the status quo, sound business sense, and aptitude for pragmatic decision-making
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and remain flexible in a fast-paced environment
• Fluent in French and English
