d2m Services is recruiting on behalf of its client , an international maritime operator providing specialized vessels and technical services supporting offshore energy operations, including offshore wind projects in the North Sea.

Within this framework, the company operates offshore assets requiring a high level of technical integrity, regulatory compliance, and continuous availability of critical onboard systems, including offshore lifting equipment.

ROLE PURPOSE

The Offshore Technical Superintendent is responsible for the technical integrity, performance, and lifecycle management of offshore lifting systems installed onboard specialized vessels.

These systems include offshore cranes, lifting appliances, winches, associated structural interfaces, and all critical components involved in offshore lifting operations.

The role acts as technical authority for lifting systems , ensuring their safe operation, regulatory compliance, and continuous availability throughout the asset lifecycle.

A strong level of autonomy is required, particularly for technical decision‑making, maintenance strategy definition, and budget justification at senior management level.

Technical Integrity of Lifting Systems

  • Ensure the reliability, availability, and optimal performance of offshore lifting systems installed on vessels.
  • Supervise the comprehensive technical lifecycle of lifting equipment, including inspection, maintenance strategies, upgrades, and modifications.
  • Serve as the technical authority for offshore cranes, lifting appliances, winches, and their associated structural interfaces.
  • Guarantee that lifting systems consistently comply with their design specifications and operational requirements.

Compliance and Certification

  • Manage classification and statutory certifications pertaining to lifting appliances, including those from DNV, BV, ABS, and other relevant bodies.
  • Ensure adherence to offshore lifting regulations and established safety standards.
  • Oversee inspection schedules, surveys, and the resolution of any technical non‑conformities.

Technical Support for Operations and Shipyards

  • Provide technical support for the preparation and execution of shipyard periods across Northern Europe.
  • Coordinate efforts among Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), specialized contractors, and internal technical teams concerning lifting systems.
  • Ensure the proper implementation of modifications, upgrades, and other technical interventions.

Budget and Lifecycle Management

  • Define and justify CAPEX and OPEX requirements related to lifting systems.
  • Assess technical solutions—including repair, upgrade, or replacement options—and support informed decision‑making processes.
  • Optimize lifecycle costs, reliability, and operational availability of lifting equipment.

Stakeholder Interface

  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for lifting systems aboard the fleet.
  • Serve as a liaison between operations, technical departments, classification societies, and senior management.
  • Critically evaluate and validate technical proposals received from external partners and suppliers.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8–15 years of experience in offshore, marine, or heavy industrial environments
  • Strong technical expertise in offshore lifting systems (cranes, winches, lifting appliances, or equivalent equipment)
  • Experience with classification societies and offshore regulatory frameworks
  • Strong autonomy and ability to take technical ownership of critical systems
  • Ability to defend technical and budgetary decisions at management level
  • Experience in North Sea environments is highly desirable

Experience with jack‑up units or offshore construction vessels is considered an advantage but not mandatory.

Languages

  • English fluent (mandatory)
  • French is a plus
