Responsibilities

• Write, review, and ship production-grade backend code regularly - this is a hands-on role
• Lead architectural decisions for your product area - APIs, databases, system design, infrastructure
• Own sprint planning, technical scoping, and delivery timelines for your team
• Mentor and grow a team of 4-5 backend engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and 1:1s
• Partner with Product to translate roadmap priorities into technical execution
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, reliability issues, and technical debt proactively

Ideal Profile

• 6+ years of backend engineering experience with at least 1-2 years in a tech lead or senior engineering capacity
• Strong hands‑on proficiency in any backend stack – Node.js, Java, Go, Python, or similar
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, microservices, REST APIs, and event-driven architecture
• Strong SQL and database fundamentals – schema design, query optimization, production-scale data handling
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred) and CI/CD practices
• Proven ability to lead technical delivery – not just delegate, but actively unblock and contribute
