System Engineer
We are recruiting on behalf of a leading innovator in the space industry, specialising in electric propulsion technology. This forward-thinking organisation develops next-generation ion thrusters, Hall-effect thrusters and high-power electric propulsion systems that power satellites, deep-space probes and interplanetary missions delivering dramatically higher efficiency than conventional chemical propulsion and enabling longer missions, reduced launch costs and genuinely sustainable space exploration.
We are looking for a talented Systems Engineer who excels at integrating complex subsystems and delivering mission-critical performance. If you are passionate about turning advanced propulsion hardware into reliable, flight-ready spacecraft systems, this is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic, hardware-focused team that is actively delivering to orbit.
Key responsibilities :
- Take ownership of the full systems engineering lifecycle for electric propulsion products — from requirements definition through to integration, verification and on-orbit operations
- Lead interface management and trade studies across thrusters, power processing units (PPUs), propellant feed systems, thermal control and spacecraft bus
- Carry out system-level modelling, performance analysis and risk assessments (using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, SysML, Python etc.)
- Plan and execute qualification and environmental test campaigns (thermal vacuum, vibration, EMI/EMC)
- Collaborate in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment with propulsion, electrical, mechanical and software teams
- Support mission planning and real-time on-orbit operations for customer spacecraft
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering or equivalent
- 4+ years of systems engineering experience in space, defence or other high-reliability sectors
- Solid experience of spacecraft subsystem integration and requirements management tools (e.g. DOORS, Cameo Systems Modeler)
- Background in electric propulsion, high-voltage systems, plasma physics or related fields is a strong advantage
- Hands-on experience in hardware testing, modelling and verification
- Strong communication skills and the ability to thrive in an agile, iterative environment
Why this role stands out:
- Direct impact on hardware that is already flying
- Competitive compensation package with equity potential
- Hybrid/flexible working arrangements
- Opportunities for professional development, conference attendance and involvement in launch campaigns
- Join a mission-driven team helping to advance humanity’s future in space
If electric propulsion excites you and you would like your systems engineering expertise to contribute to satellites currently in orbit, I would love to hear from you.
