Overview
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is a large state agency that serves residents with diverse health and human services needs. This role supports training and staff development at J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center.
Responsibilities
- Provide training and staff development for employees at J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center.
- Assess training needs, plan, assist in developing, coordinating, implementing, documenting, and evaluating training programs.
- Deliver instructor-led, in-person training, on-the-job training, training development, and training administration.
- Maintain documentation and evaluate training outcomes to meet organizational objectives.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and one year of experience in a progressive training or teaching role or one year of experience in a human service, counseling, or training program in the specified subject matter; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities / Management Preferences
Preferred:
- At least 2 years of experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities or in a behavioral health setting.
- Experience with training theory, principles, techniques, and the use of audiovisual aids and other training tools.
- Ability to assess training needs, develop objectives, set training goals, and evaluate student learning.
- Ability to adapt and communicate information to a wide range of audiences and situations.
- Demonstrated skill in assessing, planning, executing, evaluating, and adapting training to meet organizational needs.
Physical Requirements
Good physical condition to perform medium work (up to 50 pounds of force) with the ability to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions.
Mandatory Reporting
This position is designated as mandatory and requires reporting or staying over during adverse weather events.
Shift Hours
1st shift (8:00 am – 5:00 pm), Monday – Friday, with evening work as needed.
