About the role

Software Engineer II at Doctolib. We are looking for a Software Engineer II to join the ATP team within Doctolib's Platform domain. In this role, you will play a crucial part in developing and maintaining the backend systems that support various distributed services throughout the organization. Your work will involve designing key components that allow product teams to deliver features more efficiently while adhering to high standards of quality, compliance, and security. The ATP team adopts a "Platform as a Product" philosophy, simplifying complex infrastructure to enable developers to concentrate on providing value to healthcare professionals and their patients.

What you'll do

  • Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to identify and implement enhancements to the platform.
  • Influence the technical direction of the team by balancing performance, security, usability, and scalability considerations.
  • Take ownership of delivering items on the roadmap in conjunction with your teammates, while also assisting in planning for future quarters.
  • Enhance the performance of Java-based features, questioning existing methodologies when necessary to drive improvements.
  • Elevate implementation, testing, and monitoring practices by leveraging your previous experience.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure high-quality standards and share knowledge with team members.
  • Contribute to the documentation of systems and processes to facilitate onboarding and knowledge sharing.
  • Engage in troubleshooting and debugging of complex issues to maintain system reliability and performance.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 4 years of professional experience, preferably in a challenging technical environment.
  • Strong backend development skills with expert-level proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and Python.
  • Comprehensive understanding of web technologies and the entire software development lifecycle.
  • A user-focused mindset, dedicated to writing secure, well-tested, and practical code.
  • A proactive, inquisitive, and collaborative approach to problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

Nice to have

  • Experience with distributed systems and microservices architecture.
  • Familiarity with message brokers like Kafka and caching solutions such as Redis.
  • Knowledge of container orchestration tools, particularly Kubernetes.
