In this role, you will work on‑site with customers around the world, ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of Wärtsilä engine installations.

We welcome applications from candidates with varying levels of experience. Service Engineers joining the team will be supported in their professional development, with the potential to grow into a Superintendent role over time.

Your role and responsibilities

As a Service Engineer 4‑stroke, you will:

  • Execute and oversee maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair tasks, either independently or as part of a team of Wärtsilä 4‑stroke engines.
  • Lead service technicians during on‑site operations, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance with technical procedures.
  • Provide detailed work reports, including measurements, photos, and progress updates.
  • Represent Wärtsilä professionally, maintaining high standards of conduct and readiness to travel on short notice.

Requirements for the position

  • Solid knowledge of internal combustion engines (4‑stroke).
  • Basic understanding of automation systems.
  • Proficiency in IT tools, including MS Office.
  • Good English skills for technical communication.
  • Ability to work onboard vessels and adapt to diverse environments, with a willingness to travel globally (approximately 85% of the time) .

  • Previous industry experience (engine tuning, development, or maintenance) is a plus.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities, with excellent teamwork and customer relationship management skills.
  • Highly organized and capable of building effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Accurate and detail‑oriented, with strong critical thinking skills.
  • Proactive, responsible, and self‑motivated.
  • Focused on cost awareness and operational efficiency.
