Security Lead
Job Description
Job Summary: Responsible for planning, developing, implementing, overseeing, and integrating safety and security programs for the Center and supervising Security Officers.
Duties
- Ensure the safety, health, and security of students, staff, and property.
- Supervise Security Officers and coordinate work schedules.
- Administer rules and procedures regulating the entry, exit, and conduct of persons who seek access to the campus.
- Assist in the conduct of evaluation drills, fire drills, active shooter drills, etc. as required by the PRH.
- Secure premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; permitting entry.
- Obtain help by sounding alarms.
- Prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities, informing violators of policy and procedures, and restraining trespassers.
- Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities; interviewing witnesses; obtaining signatures.
- Maintain environment by monitoring and setting building and equipment controls.
- Maintain organization’s stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements.
- Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Ensure and enforce all laws, rules and policies within scope of authority.
- Conduct foot patrols of all assigned areas and remain alert for disturbances, fires, safety hazards, traffic violators, suspicious acts or persons, and other unusual conditions.
- Aid and assist visitors, student employees and staff in every way possible.
- Perform building security and safety checks.
- Receive complaints and perform appropriate investigations as directed by management.
- Provide transportation service as needed or assigned.
- Investigate vehicle accidents as assigned.
- Issue visitor passes and temporary parking permits.
- Participate in preparation and enforcement of the Center’s safety and fire prevention program.
- Participate in daily briefing covering assignments, proper dress, and procedures.
- Provide written and oral reports, briefings, or summaries to appropriate staff.
- Comply with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulations, Job Corps notices and bulletins, and Center policies and procedures.
- Maintain good housekeeping in all areas and comply with safety practices.
- Follow the CDSS plan and the Standards of Conduct system.
- Model, mentor, monitor appropriate Career Success Standards.
- Assist in maintaining student security and accountability during training, day and evening, by continuously walking through training areas, lunch areas, dorm and recreational activities, and monitoring grounds over entire Center.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management within the employee’s capabilities.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Above average public speaking skills and experience; verbal and written communication skills; problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Computer literacy skills, specifically Internet, e‑mail, MS Word and Excel.
- Ability to work any shift and any day of the week.
- Ability to obtain a commercial driver’s license.
Education
High School Diploma or GED required. Associate’s Degree preferred.
Experience
At least one year in a residential living setting and background in youth programs or law enforcement is preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid State Driver’s License with CDL endorsement.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described include: sitting, standing, walking, reaching, using hands and arms, talking, listening, occasionally lifting or moving up to 50 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close, distance and peripheral vision.
Work Environment
Work involves occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions and noise levels that can vary from moderate to loud.
