School Counselor (part time)

Role Description

This is a part-time on-site role for a School Counselor, based in Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon. The counselor will provide guidance and support to students in personal, social, and academic matters, fostering their emotional well‑being and development. Key responsibilities include conducting individual and group counseling, implementing mental health support strategies, and coordinating with parents, teachers, and external professionals as needed. The counselor will also contribute to creating a safe and inclusive school environment and support the school’s commitment to student-centered education.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Student Counseling and Counseling strategies, with experience in addressing a variety of student social and emotional needs
• Knowledge of the challenges facing mobile families and third culture children is essential
• Strong understanding of Psychology principles relevant to child and adolescent development
• Expertise in Mental Health support, including crisis intervention and prevention strategies
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with students, parents, and educators
• Relevant qualifications in Counseling, Psychology, or a related field
• Experience working in diverse, multicultural environments, preferably within international or IB schools
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical counseling practices
• Fluency in English is required; proficiency in French is a plus
