Job Summary

As a Sales Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in driving sustainable business growth by establishing and nurturing customer relationships, providing technical expertise, and promoting our innovative fluid management solutions across a designated region and subsector. Actively seek Self Generated Growth opportunities Acting as a trusted advisor, you will combine technical knowledge with commercial acumen to deliver tailored solutions that meet customer needs while aligning with our Total Customer Solutions approach.

You will be responsible for identifying and engaging potential customers, managing a robust pipeline of opportunities, and supporting key account growth through consultative sales practices. The role involves frequent interaction with customers, including on-site visits and virtual demonstrations, to showcase the features and benefits of our cutting-edge products.

Your ability to work autonomously, travel extensively, and adapt to dynamic challenges will ensure success in this impactful role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Account Management: Establish and maintain a sustainable flow of potential opportunities by developing key clients and high-growth sectors within the designated sector.
  • Business Development: Identify and engage potential customers through research, networks and industry events, promoting the full range of Watson-Marlow products.
  • Consultative Selling: Taking a consultative approach to support your customers throughout their buying journey. Start by studying each customer in order to anticipate their needs and expectations. Validate this hypothesis directly with the client, and then help identify and define the problem. Then work with them to develop a tailor-made solution and implementation plan.
  • Customer Partnership: Act as a trusted advisor to existing customers, offering technical expertise and building long-term relationships by understanding customer needs, resolving issues, and providing proactive recommendations to improve system performance.
  • Sales Lead Management: Take care of leads and sales inquiries, provide personalized quotes, and follow up quickly.
  • Strategic workload distribution: Strategically distribute workload across EMEA support functions to free up capacity for high-impact business initiatives.
  • Product Demonstration: Proactively visit customers and participate in trade shows showcasing Watson-Marlow products through on-site or virtual demonstrations, highlighting features, benefits and real-world applications.
  • Competitive intelligence: analyze competitive, market and industry trends; Engage in continuous professional development to stay at the forefront of industry advancements; Sharing knowledge and practices with colleagues around the world to enhance our collective success.
  • Use of CRM tools: Use CRM tools to track and manage leads, ensuring constant follow-up and smooth progression through the sales funnel, and provide accurate and timely forecasts to support sustainable business growth.
  • Implementing Global Customer Solutions: Adopting the Global Customer Solutions strategy using consultative sales skills and acting as a true "partner" to your core customer base.
  • Promote company values: foster a culture of safety, collaboration, customer focus, excellence, and respect within teams to achieve exceptional results.

Skills/Experience

  • A bachelor's degree or diploma in a related field or equivalent technical experience in a related field is required.
  • Due to the nature of our business, you will need to have experience in the technical sales of production equipment or similar services/products to customers in the industrial sector. Experience in the agri-food or hygiene/cosmetics sectors is an asset.
  • You will demonstrate strong business acumen, with a proven ability in both key account management and business development in a technical B2B environment.
  • Our sales engineers are often required to work independently; It is therefore essential that they have entrepreneurial skills, including problem-solving, budget management, networking and collaboration.
  • Face-to-face interaction is critical to the partnership, so the ability to travel 60-70% within the designated territory is essential.
  • Since our headquarters are in the UK, fluency in English is essential; Given the geographical location and our clientele, fluency in French is also required.
