Job Description
The Manager of the Global Events Excellence Team will lead a team of five Project Managers to develop and execute the Global Events Strategy, ensuring alignment with budgets and compliance with business ethics. The role involves transforming strategic intent into flawless event execution, revisiting processes to improve efficiency, and driving continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of 5 Global Events Excellence Project Managers.
- Establish a clear roadmap; monitor execution through regular meetings, touchpoints, and dashboards.
- Revisit and upgrade existing processes and ways of working to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Act as the gatekeeper and flag risks identified during event planning and execution.
- Implement best practices and innovative solutions to improve event planning and execution.
- Provide guidance, support, and development opportunities to team members.
- Foster a collaborative and high‑performance team culture.
- Set up, validate, and coordinate the annual Global Congress plan, ensuring execution and anticipation of future planning needs.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned congress/events, streamlining communications across Asset Teams, Global & Local cross‑functional teams, Medical Excellence, Global Communications Affiliates, and logistics agencies.
- Drive global cross‑functional planning teams and liaise with key stakeholders to ensure alignment across functions.
- Oversee logistics, ancillary meetings/events, and affiliates’ participation.
- Monitor budgets, check purchase orders and invoices, and track payments.
- Monitor service contracts in close collaboration with Corporate Legal Affairs, Purchasing, Ethics & Compliance.
- Ensure all actions comply with company policy, ethics, and compliance, and flag any identified risks.
Key Technical Experience
- Hands‑on experience in both conventional and pharmaceutical industries, supporting best‑in‑class meeting planning and execution within healthcare.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills suitable for public speaking.
- Ability to prioritize and make decisions with minimal supervision.
- Skill in interacting and challenging stakeholders at all levels of an organization.
- High energy, curiosity, team spirit, reliability, and trustworthiness.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma required; B.A. preferred.
- Experience: 5 years with direct accountability for planning, management, and oversight of pharmaceutical or biotechnology programs, meetings, congresses, and events.
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical regulations (HIPAA, Sunshine Act).
- Languages: English fluency mandatory; French a plus.
Travel Requirements
Ability to travel 20‑40% of the time.
