Research Scientist in Phage Evolution at Phagos

Phagos is seeking a creative, driven Research Scientist in Phage Evolution to lead its phage training and directed evolution strategy. It’s a pivotal position combining hands-on experimental leadership, strategic R&D development, and team management.

The objective of this role is to design and execute directed evolution programs that improve critical phage characteristics, including: Expanded host range, enhanced lytic activity, resistance to bacterial defense systems, and improved field performance. The selected candidate will pioneer next-generation, high-throughput phage training methodologies that strengthen the company’s competitive edge.

Qualifications & Skills Required

• Postdoc or PhD in Microbiology, Virology, Evolutionary Biology, Molecular Biology, or related field
• Deep hands-on experience with bacteriophage biology
• Proven experience designing and executing directed evolution experiments
• Strong molecular microbiology background
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to translate experimental insight into strategic advantage
