Reinforced Concrete & Steel Structure Design Engineer

Duration: 6 months

Location: Lyon, France

Role Context: An industrial engineering setting focused on reinforced concrete and steel structure design for buildings and industrial structures. The engineer will contribute to design work supporting industrial installations, including petrochemical and pharmaceutical environments.

About the Role: Responsible for producing and validating structural design deliverables, supporting sizing and execution phases, ensuring calculations and design outputs align with required standards and project requirements. Involves reviewing work, coordination with stakeholders, etc.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare calculation notes for preliminary sizing, foundation works, reinforced concrete structures, and metal frameworks supporting industrial installations.
• Establish methodology for justifying works and write basic data and descriptions of works.
• Validate-modelling principles, including combinations of actions and weighting coefficients.
• Verify, comment on, and validate calculation notes prepared by other design centres, subcontractors, suppliers, and construction companies.
• Verify conformity of plans drawn up based on dimensioning calculations.
• Write the design and/or calculation report for structures.
• Monitor Engineering Changes to pass on to construction companies and subcontractors.
• Apply the methods and rules of study specific to specialty or project.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Proven experience in studying petrochemical facilities on similar projects during execution phase in France or Europe.
• Proven experience in design and calculation of structures, and monitoring construction companies.
• Experience in a detailed design office is significant asset.
• English, French. Ability to work in a team and integrate into a study group.
• Strong interpersonal skills with clients.
• Decision‑making ability that considers all stakeholders.
• Familiarity with American codes is an asset for involvement in other projects.
• Experience with AUTODESK Robot Structural Analysis and BENTLEY Staad Pro.
