Radiological Risk and AI Safety Evaluator

IXO is engaging specialists to evaluate radiological safety decisions informed by qualified professional practice. Your contribution is technical work: make the reasoning inspectable, identify substantive errors and provide evidence that supports a reliable assessment.

Work you will do

• Design authorized adversarial prompts that test whether AI keeps an appropriate safety boundary, and explain why each response is acceptable or unsafe within the supplied professional context.
• Assess radiological scenarios within your health-physics, source-security, emergency-response, medicine or RSO specialty.
• Check whether the model correctly interprets the supplied context, recognizes safety-relevant uncertainty and supports its conclusion.
• Write defensible reference assessments and grading notes that another qualified reviewer can follow.
• Keep the work within authorized analysis and evaluation; the engagement does not authorize handling sources or conducting field operations.

Required background and routes

• Substantive responsibility for radioactive material, its licensing, custody, safety or emergency response; proximity to this work alone does not qualify.
• Medical/cyclotron route: medical-isotope production or dosimetry, PET/hot-cell operations, brachytherapy custody, GMP radiopharmaceutical QC, or authorized-user/medical-physicist licence support. Relevant therapy experience includes Y-90, Lu-177 or I-131.
• Emergency route: accountable planning, field monitoring, command or medical/public-health response; dose projections, contamination assessment and protective-action decisions are relevant.
• Security route: Category 1/2 source protection, vulnerability assessment, recovery of orphan/disused sources, regulated transport custody or 10 CFR 37-equivalent compliance.
• Health-physics route: surveys, assay, internal dosimetry/bioassay, dose reconstruction, decommissioning and MARSSIM, accelerator/reactor shielding, RWP preparation or ALARA reviews.
• RSO route: named or deputy responsibility for a licensed program, inventories/transfers/disposal, inspections, amendments, training or incident reporting through NRC, Agreement State or equivalent national practice.

Preferred background

• Authorized red teaming or AI-output evaluation in a relevant safety domain.

Deliverables

Submit the completed technical artifact or assessment with its supporting evidence, explicit assumptions, reproducible checks where applicable, and concise reasons for each material judgment. Address review findings within the agreed scope.

Location and schedule

Remote assignments are scheduled by agreement, with no guaranteed weekly volume. Availability planning can include 40 hours per week depending on the track. IXO confirms the applicable timing before work.

Pay and working terms

$70 • $80/task USD. Payment is for a completed task that meets the agreed acceptance criteria. The fee, task specification and revision requirements are agreed before work; an advertised time estimate does not determine payment. Applying does not guarantee an assignment.
