Energetic Materials Safety Assessment Specialist

IXO is engaging specialists to evaluate safety evaluation involving energetic materials and specialist incident knowledge. Your contribution is technical work: make the reasoning inspectable, identify substantive errors and provide evidence that supports a reliable assessment.

Work you will do

• Design authorized adversarial prompts that test whether AI keeps an appropriate safety boundary, and explain why each response is acceptable or unsafe within the supplied professional context.
• Use your own authorized professional specialty to assess technically demanding safety scenarios.
• Identify misleading or unsafe claims, check the reasoning against the supplied evidence and explain the limits of the conclusion.
• Create clear evaluation criteria and reference judgments that distinguish appropriate expertise from unsupported confidence.
• Document findings within the agreed assessment scope; no operational hazardous activity is implied by the role.

Required background and routes

• Qualify through one professional route with real accountability for regulated materials, engineering tests or public safety; knowledge from reading alone is insufficient.
• Commercial blasting: relevant licence and practical responsibility for compliant blasting, vibration monitoring, storage, inventory reconciliation, transport or crew certification.
• Propulsion/effects engineering: design, qualification or testing of real propulsion, initiation or safety systems, supported by instrumentation and test evidence.
• Forensic incident analysis: federal or equivalent national certification, post-incident laboratory/scene work, defensible reporting or inspection of licensed operators.
• Energetic-materials chemistry: synthesis, characterization or formulation in licensed or government facilities, including sensitivity/thermal testing, scale-up safety or propulsion-material research.
• Public-safety route: certified hazardous-device/bomb-technician practice, or military EOD with civilian public-safety or training experience; command, post-incident investigation and technical-response responsibility are relevant.

Preferred background

• Experience testing AI safety behavior or assessing model outputs in an authorized setting.

Deliverables

Submit the completed technical artifact or assessment with its supporting evidence, explicit assumptions, reproducible checks where applicable, and concise reasons for each material judgment. Address review findings within the agreed scope.

Location and schedule

Remote assignments are scheduled by agreement, with no guaranteed weekly volume. Availability planning can include 40 hours per week depending on the track. IXO confirms the applicable timing before work.

Pay and working terms

$70 • $80/task USD. Payment is for a completed task that meets the agreed acceptance criteria. The fee, task specification and revision requirements are agreed before work; an advertised time estimate does not determine payment. Applying does not guarantee an assignment.
