QC Specialist – Quality Control
We are adding a QC Specialist to our Kiewit team to support heavy civil infrastructure construction projects across the United States. The role provides quality oversight, testing, inspections and training to ensure projects meet quality requirements, specifications and client demands.

Location
Projects are located throughout the United States. Initial assignment is in Louisville, KY. Travel to project sites is required; occasional travel to the District office in Lone Tree, CO for training and meetings is expected.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain inspection and test plans for earthwork, utilities, drainage, structures, paving, and other civil scopes.
- Coordinate daily inspections and testing to match production schedules, ensuring crews have timely quality sign‑offs.
- Perform or oversee verification inspections for high‑risk activities and ensure acceptance criteria are met.
- Ensure inspection reports, test results, NCRs, corrective actions and quality records are complete, accurate and audit‑ready.
- Review and approve inspection/test results for compliance with contract documents, codes and standards.
- Manage source and receiving inspections of permanent materials (pipe, rebar, aggregates, structural components).
- Collaborate with operations to build work packages that define required inspections, tests and documentation.
- Lead pre‑activity meetings to confirm readiness and prevent rework.
- Communicate proactively with owners, third‑party inspectors and design partners to address concerns before escalation.
- Review supplier quality documentation for contract compliance and ensure subcontractors follow Kiewit’s quality program.
- Verify that materials and equipment meet specifications before installation.
- Forecast and track costs for third‑party testing and inspection services.
- Identify quality‑related risks early and work with project leadership to mitigate them.
- Guide junior quality specialists and field engineers on processes, documentation and technical requirements.
- Set expectations for quality culture, reinforcing Kiewit’s standards for safety, workmanship and accountability.
Qualifications
- Self‑starter with exceptional organization and interpersonal skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quality or related field preferred (minimum 5 years in quality and field inspection, quality auditing and surveillance).
- If Associate’s degree, a minimum of 8 years in a Quality Specialist role performing functions outlined above.
- If no degree, a minimum of 10 years in heavy civil construction with QA/QC functions.
- Experience with inspection and testing techniques for asphalt, concrete, soil and other heavy civil construction materials.
- Experience scheduling and overseeing third‑party testing, developing inspection reports, corrective actions and ensuring materials and equipment meet company standards and specifications.
- Working knowledge of construction industry codes (e.g., ACI, AWS, ASME, NEC).
- Knowledge of quality control procedures, tracking and reporting, material/equipment review and experience reviewing completed work packages.
- Advanced MS Office skills and preferred knowledge/use of AI.
- Experience as a Quality Specialist with heavy civil construction, either through a GC, engineering/consulting firm or testing firm.

Base Compensation : $105,000 – $125,000 (actual compensation may vary based on education, experience, skillset and/or location).
