Public Health/Epidemiology & Biostatistics Intern – Final Year Engineering/Master Student

Overview

As a member of the Data Science team, you will contribute to the execution of real-world (observational) patient studies for our clients, including pharmaceutical companies, medical technology companies, biotechnology companies, medical device manufacturers, and medical researchers.

Responsibilities

• Working closely with experienced data scientists and project managers, your responsibilities will include:
• Participating in the conduct of prospective observational studies based on data collected directly from patients
• Supporting the design of studies and questionnaires: drafting survey questions and defining response options based on client needs
• Programming and launching online questionnaires on the Carenity platform
• Monitoring fieldwork and response rates
• Tracking study progress
• Coordinating with internal teams and supporting participant recruitment efforts
• Data cleaning and preparation
• Statistical analysis using R
• Preparing study reports and presentations
• Supporting the development of insights and client recommendations
• Participating in the presentation of results

Internal projects

• Depending on your interests and initiative, you will also contribute to internal data and product initiatives, such as:
• Improving and developing R scripts and packages
• Building internal data tools and analytical workflows
• Enhancing data visualization

Qualifications

• Final-year student from a top engineering school, or a Master’s student specializing in Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or a related field
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
• Good knowledge of statistics (descriptive analysis, basic modeling)
• Proficiency in R is required
• Comfortable working with data (data cleaning, manipulation, analysis)
• Fluent in English, with strong written communication skills in both English and French
• Proactive, organized, and eager to learn
• Interest in healthcare, life sciences, or real-world data
