Project Engineer
Nomad Digital has an exciting opportunity for aProject Engineer to join our Engineering team based inParis, France . Working closely with the Project Manager and Engineering Manager, you will coordinate the technical delivery of projects, from solution design and documentation through to implementation, testing, deployment, and troubleshooting. You will work collaboratively with internal teams and engage with clients where required, ensuring successful project outcomes.
The role requires strong knowledge of IP networking, wireless technologies, and Linux platforms, along with at least three years of hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting network devices such as switches, routers, and access points. Experience with satellite communications is an advantage.
Occasional extended international travel may be required for certain projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work in a team with the Project Manager to coordinate internal teams and ensure all deliverables are completed within the specified timescales.
- Client interaction to determine requirements, agree on solutions, review documentation, agree on test plans, and present results.
- High-level design from the bid technical proposal; finalise design during the project phase.
- Create project documents in line with requirements and planning:
- Documenting the design, including synoptics.
- Integration documents in case third-party solutions have to be integrated.
- Test specifications.
- Configuration, training, and installation manuals.
- Documents for handover to operations.
- Responsible for defining and reviewing configuration to match the design objectives, with the support of the internal team.
- Responsible for troubleshooting in case of issues, both through own investigation and by coordinating with other internal teams or manufacturers. Can act as 3rd line support to internal teams.
- Managing the handover to the client or in-house support staff, including training.
Qualification Requirements:
- Understanding of TCP/IP networking, LAN and VLAN IP planning.
- User knowledge of Linux.
- Knowledge of Mobile data networks, and general technicalhybridTelecom& ITexperience.
- Knowledge of certification requirements for railway.
- Linux REDHAT certified or Debian certified.
- Degree level in Electrical / Electronic / IT / Computing Engineering or a related subject.
- Understanding of IT/Telecom Operations and Maintenance procedures.
- Knowledge of antenna design and antenna placement.RF Telecom knowledge.
Experience Requirements:
- At least 3 years hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting various network devices including switches, routers, and access points.
- Very good communication skills, both technical and user facing in English and French.
- Experience creating system schematics, Bills of materials, test documents and technical processes and procedures.
- Good knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and preferably Visio.
- Thorough and logical approach to planning and implementation.
- Experience working in rail/transportation sector, with understanding of Operations and Maintenance procedures.
- Wi-Fi and/or RF planning and implementation experience.
- Experience with hardware integration, interface definition and reviewing schematics.
- Experience working with Puppet, Zabbix and GIT.
- Experience with VM’s and Containerization.
- Experience with security and penetration testing.
Other Essential Requirements
- The candidate must be fluent in French and English
- Familiarity with industrial and maintenance processes in a railway environment is not an absolute requirement but strongly preferred.
- Ability to travel within Europe: 10% -20% (depending on project phase).
- Able to work onsite, in train depots or shunting yards.
- Ability to work well in pressurized situations
