Production Software Migration Reviewer
IXO is engaging specialists to evaluate software migrations that preserve behavior while changing the implementation platform. Your contribution is technical work: make the reasoning inspectable, identify substantive errors and provide evidence that supports a reliable assessment.
Work you will do
- Develop or assess modernization cases involving real dependency, framework, language or version constraints.
- Check compatibility, data and interface assumptions, verification coverage and the ability to roll back safely.
- Explain the migration sequence and trade-offs, identifying where a superficially successful change would break existing behavior.
Preferred background
- Five or more professional software years with senior/staff/principal-level responsibility and significant ownership of a large production migration.
- Mature-system dependencies, legacy integrations and regression risk; compatibility, equivalence testing, monitoring, phased rollout and rollback reasoning.
- High-reliability sectors such as healthcare, telecom, banking, trading, insurance or payments are useful. For mainframe work, relevant tools include VSAM, DB2, JCL, CICS and z/OS, including COBOL migrations into Python or Java.
Deliverables
Submit the completed technical artifact or assessment with its supporting evidence, explicit assumptions, reproducible checks where applicable, and concise reasons for each material judgment. Address review findings within the agreed scope.
Location and schedule
Remote assignments are scheduled by agreement, with no guaranteed weekly volume. Availability planning can include 40 hours per week depending on the track. IXO confirms the applicable timing before work.
