As part of its growth strategy, Gexcon France is looking for an experienced Technical Leader to take charge of the growth of its risk management & consequence modelling business.

In this role, as a member of the local office senior management team, you will work alongside the General Manager in developing and driving business growth within France and Southern Europe.

On the technical front, you will operate through the Gexcon global subject matter experts network coordinated by Gexcon global Technical Director.

You will also have the opportunity to contribute towards Gexcon Group activities. This will provide you with the opportunity to extend your role and develop your career further supporting Gexcon’s strategic global agenda.

You

To be successful in the role, you need to meet the following criteria:

  • Engineering diploma or Master’s in a STEM subject (Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or other natural sciences) or technical safety-related subject.
  • Years of experience, as a minimum, in technical risk assessments for industrial purposes.
  • Proficiency in using Gexcon software suites FLACS and EFFECTS for consequence modelling in the research or consultancy environments.
  • Full professional proficiency and fluency in French (both written and verbal).
  • Proficiency in English (both written and verbal, for general business communication as well as technical reports).
  • Preferably, experience of working in a consulting environment with
    • deep knowledge and understanding of phenomenological consequence assessment models,
    • relevant experience in advanced consequence modelling.

The role

Working closely with the Country Manager and operating through the Gexcon global subject matter experts network coordinated by Gexcon global Technical Director, the Principal Engineer is responsible for the following:

  • To lead technically and grow the advanced consequence modelling team in Gexcon France.
  • To act as a member of the local office senior management team and work alongside the General Manager in developing and driving the advanced consequence modelling business growth within France and Southern Europe.
  • To interact with Gexcon’s global network of subject matter experts in order to grow the knowledge and improve the performance of advanced consequence modelling for industrial applications (experimental programs, oil and gas, new energy carriers, Li-Ion batteries, transportation…).

Day-to-day activities consist of:

a) Ensuring the delivery of impeccable quality in project work to Gexcon’s clients.

  • Formulating project scope with clients where (FLACS) consequence modelling is the core topic/at the centre of the delivery.
  • Support technically large project teams or lead project teams when scope is mainly technical.
  • Managing clients’ expectations, scope creep, project execution, project team, project profitability and taking responsibility for technical resourcing in FLACS advanced modelling related projects.
  • Implement Gexcon’s advanced methodologies and approaches to solve industrial technical safety challenges in the field of consequence modelling for design purpose, compliance, and incident investigations.

b) Contributing to the implementation of Gexcon’s presence and visibility in the European market for expertise in consequence modelling and FLACS related applications.

c) Contributing/Interacting with other offices or branches of the Gexcon Global organisation to promote high value methodologies and solutions for advanced consequence assessment with the use of the Gexcon software tools (FLACS, EFFECTS).
