What you'll do
- Design, implement, and maintain network configurations to optimize performance and reliability.
- Monitor network traffic and performance metrics to identify and resolve issues proactively.
- Collaborate with software engineers and system administrators to ensure seamless integration of network solutions.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for network configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Conduct regular network assessments and audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
- Troubleshoot network problems and provide timely resolutions to minimize downtime and service disruptions.
- Participate in the planning and execution of network upgrades and expansions to support business growth.
- Provide technical support and guidance to team members and clients regarding network-related inquiries.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in network engineering to enhance service offerings.
- Assist in the development of training materials and conduct training sessions for staff on network protocols and tools.
- Work closely with vendors to evaluate and implement new network hardware and software solutions.
- Contribute to the development of disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure network resilience.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in network engineering or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and BGP.
- Proficiency with network monitoring tools and technologies, such as Wireshark, SolarWinds, or Nagios.
- Experience with firewall configurations and security protocols to safeguard network integrity.
- Familiarity with cloud networking solutions and services, particularly AWS or Azure.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and a proactive approach to tasks.
Nice to have
- Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation of network tasks.
- Knowledge of VoIP technologies and their integration into network infrastructures.
- Familiarity with network virtualization technologies, such as VMware or Cisco ACI.
- Previous experience in a client-facing role, providing technical support or consulting services.
