Nuclear Safety Engineer – France (13) – 6 Months
DCAI is supporting a major engineering organisation involved in the delivery of strategic nuclear programmes in France. As part of ongoing nuclear plant modification projects, we are seeking an experienced Nuclear Safety Engineer to manage and coordinate intellectual design modifications impacting nuclear safety, operational documentation and plant engineering processes. This role is particularly suited to professionals with a strong background in EDF engineering processes, nuclear safety analysis and operational reactor environments. The successful candidate will coordinate engineering activities associated with nuclear design modifications, ensuring compliance with safety requirements, operational constraints and regulatory expectations throughout the project lifecycle. The position requires close interaction with engineering, procurement, project and construction teams, while maintaining a strong focus on nuclear safety, licensing impacts and plant operation requirements.
- Coordinate all stakeholders involved in nuclear design modification projects.
- Organise and facilitate project steering, technical coordination and progress review meetings.
- Manage project planning and ensure timely delivery of engineering activities.
- Assess the impact of proposed modifications on:
- Safety Reports
- General Operating Rules
- Accident management procedures
- Test programmes
- Maintenance programmes
- Equipment classification and qualification
- Operational and organisational requirements
- Prepare technical documentation supporting modification approval processes.
- Contribute to regulatory and internal authorisation dossiers when required.
- Monitor and coordinate modification implementation activities.
- Ensure consistency between engineering, procurement, project and execution teams.
- Prepare weekly and monthly project reporting.
- Support multidisciplinary coordination throughout the modification lifecycle.
Profile :
- Degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of overall professional experience.
- Proven experience within the nuclear industry.
- Strong experience in nuclear safety engineering and/or PWR (Pressurised Water Reactor) operation.
- Deep understanding of nuclear operational documentation and safety requirements.
- Experience managing engineering modifications within nuclear facilities.
- Knowledge of EDF engineering processes and methodologies.
- CEFRI certification.
- Experience supporting EDF nuclear fleet projects.
- Knowledge of EDF engineering procedures (IPE Process, IOP Guide or equivalent).
- Experience preparing safety justification files and licensing documentation.
- Experience in technical governance and engineering change management.
- Experience in multidisciplinary project environments.
- Previous involvement in plant operation support activities.
